Donald Johnstone Obituary

Don Johnstone died on October 4, 2022 after a long battle with a genetic mitochondrial disorder. Don was born on September 20, 1942 in Ukiah, California. He attended elementary and high school in Ukiah. He graduated with bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engineering from UC Berkeley and received his PhD from Stanford. During his 44-year career, he worked as a respected member of the staff for several Silicon Valley companies, including Sylvania, Argosystems, TCI, Applied Signal and Radix, While an engineer by profession, he was a craftsman at heart; creating was his love language – carpenter, electrician, plumber and general handyman were his true callings. He remodeled the family home, and built toys and structures for his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed golf, travel, gourmet cooking and beer-making. Most of all he excelled as beloved husband to his wife Judy; father to Greg Johnstone (Marilo), Erik Johnstone (Jonelyn) and Kari Schiro (Perry); and grandfather to Camila, Kaila and Luna Johnstone, Kaiden and Connor Johnstone, and Theo, Zanna and Olin Schiro.
