DAYTON - Melinda K. McGraw, lovingly known as "Missy" or "Pippy" to those closest to her, passed away on May 16, 2025, at Miami Valley Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio, at the age of 56, due to heart complications from her long-term fight with the disease lupus. Missy was born on April 4, 1969, in Troy, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her mother Georgia Ellison, Father William Fister, Stepfather Ramey Sparks, Brothers Ramey Sparks Jr. & Williams sparks, and niece Jessica Rees.
She is survived by her devoted partner of many years, Doug Hornyak; her beloved son Roy McGraw(Kellee);her cherished grandchildren Jackson & Carson Chamblin, Bowen & Mason McGraw; her loving sister Zenda Rees (Ben); Nieces & Nephews Chris Sparks(Baye), William Sparks Jr.(Whitney), Jonathan Rees (Tabitha), Courtney Willman (Maurice), and Kim Beatty (Chris); as well as countless family & friends.
Missy worked for many years as a manager at Spring Hill Nurseries where her leadership and work ethic made a lasting impact. She also served with pride as Madam Chaplain for the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Troy, Ohio.
Missy was known for her vibrant personality, generous heart, and love for life. She was the center of attention wherever she went and was always ready to help others. She was an avid poker player and gambler, she also found joy in quilting, jewelry making, and collecting crystals, gems, and longaberger baskets. Missy loved the outdoors and treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren.
Her warmth, humor and energy will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Leaf Cremation of Ohio. A celebration of Missy's Life will be held on Saturday June 7, 2025, from 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm at The Fraternal Order of Eagles 225 N Elm St, Troy, OH 45373.

I have know Missi Many year her mother Georgia was my children“s child care provider and then we both worked at Springhill . My heart goes out to her sister Zenda and her Children Missy was a good woman always laughing even when she hurt the worst. I knew she had lupus god love her she gave I a good fight!! Prayers for family and friends
