Virginia Steadman Obituary

Virginia Steadman STATESVILLE Mrs. Virginia Caroline Jurney Steadman, 95, of Statesville, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012 at Willowbrook Health-care Center. She was born June 9, 1917, in the Snow Creek Methodist Church community in northern Iredell County, to the late Colin Campbell and Julia Fowler Jurney. Mrs. Steadman was a homemaker, worked for the American Red Cross in Mooresville, and was a member of the First ARP Church in Statesville. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, A. Paul Steadman; her sons, Dr. C. Michael Steadman and Mr. James Campbell Steadman; and one grandson, C. Michael Steadman, Jr. Surviving are her son, Dr. Paul Colin Steadman; seven grandchildren, Cammie Jane Steadman Burgess, Julia Fowler Steadman Hallum, Bruce Anne Steadman Farmer, John Gunn Steadman, Madison Campbell Steadman, Matthew Charles Steadman and Christopher Paul Steadman; seven great-grand-children, Ashleigh and Ethan Steadman, Hallie and Olivia Steadman, and Jon, Robert, and Andrew Burgess; and one brother, Mr. Robert L. Jurney. A graveside service for Mrs. Steadman was conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, in the Oakwood Cemetery. The Rev. Otis Snow officiated. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Joseph Moran and staff and Susan McBride and staff at Jurneys of Statesville assisted living for all the loving care and support of Mrs. Steadman. The family would also like to express their gratitude to the staff of Willowbrook Healthcare Center of Yadkinville, for their loving assistance. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First ARP Church, 123 E. Broad St., Statesville, NC 28677. Online condolences can be made to the family at nicholsonfunerals.com/ obituaries.
