Anthony “Andy” Burnett was born on November 23, 1965, to James Nathan and Emma Jean Burnett. “Andy” (what his father started calling him) was the last bundle of joy to join the Burnett family. Andy was proceeded in death by an older sister Andrea Kay. Andy grew up with his parents and three siblings on Colorado Street in the historic southside community of Chandler. He attended schools in the Chandler public school district, was a member of the Chandler High school football team before graduating in 1983. After graduating from school, Andy worked as a warehouseman at Safeway Warehouse in Tempe, Arizona.
Andy was very supportive of his mother Emma when his father became ill. After his father’s passing, Andy became ill and required weekly dialysis treatments, to which mother Emma faithfully transported him to and from until her homegoing in 2018. After their mother’s passing, his sister Vickie took on the responsibility as Andy’s caretaker until his passing on January 29, 2024.
Andy endured years of dialysis, blindness and other health issues but always remained upbeat and his love for the company of family and friends. Andy was proceeded in death by his parents James Nathan and Emma Jean Burnett and sister Andrea Kay Burnett. He is survived by his daughter Shavonne Nicole Burnett of Gilbert, AZ; two sisters Vickie Scott (John) of Mesa, AZ and Ivory Burnett of Phoenix, AZ and his brother James Burnett Jr. of Casa Grande, AZ; two Nieces and two Nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and the whole community in South Chandler. He will surely be missed by all.
