Greig- Anthony W. "Tony" Oaks, 59, of Fish Creek Road, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, February 28, 2023.
Tony was born in Athens, country of Greece, on July 20, 1963, a son of Billy and Edith (Shute) Oaks and later he grew up with his family in Portugal and in Germany, before moving to the United States, living in Virginia, where he graduated from high school. After completing high school, he relocated to Walden, NY (Orange Country), where he began his long career in carpentry. Mr. Oaks was well known and respected in his profession as a carpenter who was skilled at constructing precision examples of older types of buildings or architectural features thereof.
He is survived by his mother, Edith Oaks, Lyons Falls and his companion of many years, Karen Smith, Greig; two sons, Craig Oaks, North Carolina and Bryon (Tiffany) Oaks, Port Leyden; step daughters, Jessica Lee, Herkimer, NY, Stacey (Richard) Hardin, Forestport; two granddaughters, Stella and Athena Oaks, Port Leyden; step grandchildren, Robbie, Hallie and Trenton, all of Forestport; one brother, Stuart (Dina) Oaks, Pennsylvania, a nephew Reese, Lee Center and a good friend, Steve Martin, Boonville. Tony was predeceased by his father, Billy Oaks; a brother Stephen and a sister Andrea.
Visitation hours will be on Saturday, March 4, 2023, from 10:00 A.M. until 12 Noon, at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where a service will begin at noon. A luncheon will follow the service at the Boonville Elks Lodge, State Route 12, Boonville. Memorial contributions may be made to Stevens Swan Humane Society, 5664 Horatio Street, Utica, NY 13502.
