Barbara A. Bartholf, 84, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2025 in the company of her daughters. Born on February 20, 1941, in Tampa, Florida she was the daughter of the late James and Isabel (Wheeler) Byrnes. On May 22, 1960, she married Dale Bartholf. Together they enjoyed 52 years of marriage until his passing in 2012.
Barbara began her career with IBM before turning her focus to her family. She later contributed greatly to her community through her role in the cafeteria at the Pine Plains Central School District, where she served for 25 years until her retirement. She was a charter member of the Pine Plains Bomber Boosters and the Pine Plains Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, showcasing her unwavering support for local initiatives and organizations. Cherishing time spent camping with her family and she was an enthusiastic fan of Nascar races and she also found joy in crocheting. Barbara lived a life rich in dedication and warmth.
Barbara is survived by her children, Dawn (Greg) Smith, David (Kelly) Bartholf, and Denise (Mark) Loveland. She was a loving grandmother to six grandchildren, Michael (Lauren) Smith, Heather (Chris) Smith, Alecia (Zack) Stever, Lindsey Smith, James Loveland, and Ashley (Kane) Blevins. Additionally, she was the proud great-grandmother of Skye, Aspyn, Callie, Carson, Shea, Cameron, Aubrie, and Bryson. She also leaves behind her sister, Betty Ann (Bill) Abrams, along with two nieces and two nephews.
Family and friends are invited to share memories and offer condolences on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Peck & Peck Funeral Homes, 7749 South Main Street, Pine Plains, New York. A funeral service will take place from the funeral home at 11:00 am, Thursday. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Pine Plains.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara's name may be made to the Pine Plains Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 100, Pine Plains, NY 12567.
