Benita Eliza Zalapa Botello

BENITA ELIZA ZALAPA BOTELLO April 17, 1926 - December 4, 2014 Mrs. Benita Eliza Zalapa Botello was born in Sugarland, Texas on April 17, 1926 to Rosario Pina and Bonifacio Zalapa. Benita passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at the age of 88. As a young woman, she assumed a motherly role for her siblings. The family moved from Sugarland to San Antonio, Texas. On October 28, 1945, she married Roy R. Botello at San Fernando Cathedral. They had two sons, Roy Alan and Mark Anthony. In their early years of marriage, Roy and Benita enjoyed affiliation with the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) and made many lifelong friends. She was a faithful member of St. Henry's Catholic Church. Benita is preceded in death by her parents and her dear sister, Eva. She is survived by her husband of 69 years; sons, Roy Alan (Mary) and Mark Anthony; sister, Rosa Votion; brother, Raymond Zalapa; granddaughters, Angela M. Botello, Jessica M. Biela (John); and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at 5:00 pm at Porter Loring Mortuary, 1101 McCullough, San Antonio, Texas 78212. ROSARY WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 10, 2014 7:00 P.M. PORTER LORING CHAPEL MASS OF RESURRECTION THURSDAY DECEMBER 11, 2014 9:00 A.M. ST. HENRY'S CATHOLIC CHURCH 1619 S. FLORES STREET Interment will follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Henry's Catholic Church, San Antonio, Texas.
