C.W. McCoy

Clarence Wayne McCoy also known as C.W., age 71 of Inola, Oklahoma passed away unexpectedly July 7, 2023. C.W. was born in Tahlequah, Oklahoma on May 23, 1952 and grew up with his seven siblings: Billy, Brenda, Ricky, Ronnie, Jacky, Tommy, and Beverly. He was a graduate of Muskogee High School in 1970 and joined the United States Marine Corps in January 1971. C.W. is survived by sister, Brenda, brothers, Ricky, Ronnie, Jacky, Tommy and his wife Teresa, Billy's widow Christa, his son Michael McCoy and his wife Nicole their children Brittany, Kourtney, and Kassandra, his daughter Michelle McCoy and her children Jared, Justin, Miranda, and Megan, nephews Jackson, Mark, Little Tom, and twins Alex and Billy, and his only great grandchild, Miranda's daughter Madilyn Steinhour. He was preceded in death by his sister Beverly McCoy, parents Alex and Rachel McCoy, and his brother Billy McCoy.
C.W. took pride in his military service as an active duty F-4 Phantom aviation electrician for eight and a half years and reached the rank of Staff Sergeant before being honorably discharged in August 1979. He served many deployments aboard the USS Midway now ported as a museum in San Diego, California. After serving his country, C.W. began a career at AT&T, years later retired, and settled down in Inola, Oklahoma.
Outside his military service, C.W. had a passion for stock car racing, golfing with friends and family, and 70s/80s Rock. He enjoyed the thrill of dirt track racing as he competed sporting the number 31 on various types of racecars and the camaraderie among his fellow racing enthusiasts many becoming good friends. C.W. McCoy will be remembered for serving his country, his love for stock car racing, and absolutely crushing it while playing the piano or any guitar he could get his hands on.

Visitation at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home will be in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma on Monday, July 17, 2023 1 p.m.-7 p.m. with family in attendance from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. The funeral will be held at the Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma at 11 a.m. on Tuesday July 18, 2023.
