Carmen Reyes

Carmen Dora Reyes peacefully passed away on Friday, July 1, 2022, surrounded by her beloved family.
Carmen was born to Nazaria and Alvaro Figueroa on November 18, 1933, in Santurce, Puerto Rico. Carmen was 1 of 13 children, survived by Nilsa (Figueroa) Lopez, Nancy Figueroa, Josephine Lucas, Yolanda Lucas, and Vincent Lucas.
Carmen was the beloved mother of Carmen (Soler) Snyder, Delia Esther (Soler) Striano and Michael Soler. She had 3 grandchildren, Joseph Perry, Edson Castillo and Samantha (Snyder) Glon. Carmen also had 4 great-grandchildren, Nina Roder, Nathaniel Roder, Dianna Soler, Natalie Glon and Krystal Castillo, who all fondly called her "Abuelita". She also had many nieces and nephews that she cherished.
Carmen's career was as a caring nurse and has always been known as a strong, fiercely independent and passionate woman who was admired by many family and friends for her determination throughout her life. She was devoted to her spiritual path, ensuring that her loved ones were protected and cared for.
When Carmen was younger, she enjoyed music, traveling, and dancing. But her greatest joy over the years was cooking large dinners for her family and friends. By far, her most enjoyed dishes were lechon, arroz con gandules, tostones, bread pudding, flan and rice pudding. She lived a full 88 years and will truly be missed by those that knew and cared for her.
Viewing will be at Sax-Tiedemann Funeral Home, 9568 Belmont Ave., Franklin Park on Saturday, July 9, 2022 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
