July 1, 1935 – October 5, 2025
Virginia was lovingly known as “Ginny Ann” to her family and friends. She passed away on Sunday October 5, 2025, at the age of 90. Virginia battled with lung disease which developed into emphysema, and she died under hospice care in Ocala, FL.
Virginia was born in River Grove, IL to Virginia (Cappelen) Arnett and Ross Arnett (both deceased). She was the oldest of six children: Evelyn, Jim (deceased), Mary (deceased), Joe, as well as John (deceased). She was married to Ralph Herdenberg in 1953 and had four children: Jack (deceased), Jennifer, Robin and Lisa. There are four grandchildren: Paul, Luke, Valerie and Julia. She also had five great-grandchildren: Damiean, Ethan, Levi, Emma and Milo. Virginia and Ralph were divorced in 1979 in Chicago, IL.
Virginia lived in the Chicago area for most of her life. Then in 2012, she moved to the Atlanta area with her daughter Lisa and son-in-law Mike. They lived there for several years then they all relocated to Ocala, FL in 2018.
Virginia loved quiet adventures and was thrilled to travel over the years. Her favorite place was her brother, John’s, cabin in Friendship, WI. She also loved travelling to Alaska, Italy and the Caribbean. She loved to bake cakes and pies for her favorite people. And after a long day, she loved some cold chardonnay and “porch time” visiting with friends and family.
The memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Sax-Tiedemann Funeral Home in Franklin Park, IL. There will be a grave-side service at 1:30 p.m. and a small reception afterwards.
