Carol Meyer Obituary

Published by Forest Lawn - Covina Hills on Aug. 15, 2019.
Carol Jean Meyer, 67, born on March 17, 1952, in San Bernardino, CA, US, passed away August 15, 2019. She resided in Upland, CA at the time of her passing. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Covina Hills, California. Services begin at 2:30 p.m., doors open at 2:00 p.m. Carol Jean Meyer was born to parents Alphonse and Jane Nowicki. She was the fifth of six children and the second of only two daughters. Carol stuck to her roots and spent most of her time living in the Southern California region she loved, where her own three daughters – Lisa, Traci and Erin, eventually followed suit. Spending her childhood in the city of Bloomington, Carol was known as bright, imaginative, thoughtful and incredibly giving. She was also very active at Bloomington High School as a Madrigal, skilled archer, and member of the Drill Team, the beginning to the wide array of talents Carol beheld. She was an amazing singer; loved gardening; artistically decorated cakes; and created the best homemade culinary creations and comfort food. In later years, she used her skills to spend her time exploring with crafting projects and perfecting her mastery at crocheting the most beautiful, cozy blankets. Carol's gorgeous smile and infectious laugh was capable of lighting up the world, appropriately matching the type of person needed for her line of work. Carol started her career in medical assisting at Kaiser Permanente in the early 1970s, later serving in a supervisory role at Chaparral Medical Group. Her insurmountable amount of energy she put into loving her family was the focus of her life. In addition to her daughters, Carol is survived by her grandchildren Madison, Tommy, Xavi, and Maggie; her sister, Marie; brothers Donald and Terrence Sr.; plus many other friends and adored family members. Carol passed away on August 15, 2019 following a year-long battle with leukemia. Her fight was strong, and was only a small glimpse of the many examples showing what a warrior of a woman she was. The mark she left on the world was true to anyone who crossed her path. She leaves a void in our hearts and will be forever missed.

Carol was my beloved sister, my dearest friend, my rock, ever close to my heart. She had a stunning smile, loved life, and was totally devoted to her family. She touched many always with a kind word, forgiveness, and love. All she asked was prayers. My beautiful sister Carol will be dearly missed, but her light will continue to shine over us all.

My mother, Carol, left us nearly two weeks ago, yet I have continued to receive texts and calls from individuals all remembering the exact same thing about her: her genuine kindness and loving spirit that is so rare to find in today's world. Words will never be enough to express how much she is missed or how much I appreciate and am proud to have had her as my mother...I can only hope to try to pass along the same traits to my children to continue her memory and exhibit similar positive influences of courage, love, hard work and selflessness to all...

Carol was like a mom and sister to me. We worked side by side for almost 20 years as she supported and ran my medical practice and often times my personal life. She was one of my best and definitely truest friends. She was the most thoughtful and selfless person I have known. She was always caring and always supportive. She was/is the best person I have known. She was one of the few people I have known who would drop everything and help anyone who needed help. She would advocate for patients daily, and they loved her for it. She gave everyone everything she had with all her heart. She loved her family, her daughters, and grandchildren more than any words could say. I know she will always be with us in a special way, and I know she is in a better place at this moment and forever. I love you, Care!

Carol was such an amazing and hardworking woman. I admired how devoted she was to her job and to those she cared for. I got to know her very well through my time working with her. She always had a story to tell and I am glad she was able to share them with me. She will be missed , but her memory will forever be with us.
