Obituary For Carolyn Virginia Allen
Carolyn Virginia Allen, 86 of Colleyville, TX, passed on from this life on Saturday, August 5th, 2023.
Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 11th, at the White Family Funeral Home in Bowie, TX.
Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 11:00 a.m. at the Montague United Methodist Church, with Pastor Larry Coleman officiating.
Burial will follow at the Montague Cemetery.
There will be a Carolyn Allen Art Memorial Project on Saturday, September 30th, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., come and go. "Imagine" chalk drawing (chalk provided) at the Trinity High School in the mall area in front of the F Building. Guest will be able to sign the register book, meet Carolyn's family and express yourself with art.
Carolyn was born April 16, 1937 in Bowie, TX to H.R. "Jockey" and Nana "Snooky" Jameson. Carolyn grew up between Bowie and Fort Worth, surrounded by a large family of Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. At a young age she married Don Tucker and had her first born, Dona. Carolyn then worked her way as a single mother through TCU, where she graduated with a Fine Arts Degree. Shortly after she began her lifelong passion of teaching art. During this time she married Ed McKnight and had her son, Dee.
She was notorious for bringing home stray cats, dogs and people. She would open her home to anyone that needed help.
Carolyn taught for over 50 years, mostly at Trinity High School in Euless, TX, where she mentored and helped shape the lives of many if her students. Carolyn loved art, literature, architecture and her garden. She shared her love of the deserts of New Mexico and the mountains of Colorado with her family. The natural world fascinated and comforted her.
Later in life, Carolyn married Jim Allen.
Her greatest passion was her grandchildren, Katie, Lily, Eleanor, and Jameson.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and husband Jim Allen.
Carolyn is survived by her daughter Dona and husband Michael; son Dee and his wife Patti; grandchildren Katie, Lily, Eleanor and Jameson; and brother David Jameson.

When I visit the cathedral at Santa Fe I remember the joy Carolyn had in taking Lily to a recital there. Lily was entranced.
