Carrie Ann Loken, 53 of Wannaska, MN passed away at home on August 25, 2024. She was born on February 4, 1971 to Ronald and Teresa (Smith) Vertina. She attended school in Roseau, MN, graduating in 1989. Carrie and Milo Loken were married on May 6, 2000 at their home in Skime, MN.
Carrie pursued a diverse range of occupations throughout her lifetime, working at Polaris, Hydra-Mac, Machine Well, Garden Valley Housekeeping, Central Boiler, and most recently Digi-Key, until she could not work due to her illness. She enjoyed the simple life, being outdoors and spending time with family. Her children and grandsons were her pride and joy. Carrie loved attending high school football and basketball games, as both of her sons played in high school.
Carrie is survived by her husband Milo of Skime; daughter Samantha (Austin) Englund of Grygla, MN; sons Anthony of Skime and Andrew of Crookston; grandsons Otto, Coulter and Sutton Englund of Grygla; mother Teresa of Wannaska; brothers Mike Vertina of Thief River Falls, MN and Wade (Tammi) Vertina of Wadena, MN; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father Ronald; grandparents Melvin & Phyllis Brenhaug and Orville & Agnes Vertina; aunt Lorrie Ann (Brenhaug) Hulst; father-in-law Arthur Clarence Loken; and borther-in-law Mark Allen Loken.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the LifeCare Hospice nurses Sarah and Joanna for all of their care and compassion, and to Kim Cleven for all she had done for their family.
