Charlene Keels Bowen, age 81 of Mammoth Cave, KY and formally of White House, TN passed away on October 12, 2022, at the Medical Center at Bowling Green.
She was born Bertha Charlene Keels on September 13, 1941, in Pensacola, Florida to the late B.H. and Ruby Crutchfield Keels (Bonds). She grew up in Macon, Georgia, was baptized at the age of 12 at Trinity Nazarene Church and graduated from Margaret McEvoy High School. After graduation Ms. Charlene began her career as a legal secretary.
Ms. Charlene worked hard raising her children and supporting them through out their lives. Her love language was acts of service and for many years, Ms. Charlene lived with Melanie while she raised her children to be a helping hand when needed. She continued that helping hand with Debbie after the passing of Melanie. She loves to clean, cook, and do laundry. As the grandchildren got older, she taught them how to cook and enjoyed spending family game night battling it out over a game of Skip-Bo.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Charlene is preceded in death by children, Melanie Bowen Brown and Gregory Earl Bowen; stepfather, Samuel Bonds; brothers, Pete Bonds and Norman Bonds.
She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Bowen Carroll; grandchildren, Jessica (Eric) Brown Selbach, David Gregory (Summer) Brown, Colton Bowen Brown; sister, Bonnie (Sy) Clements and Dorothy (Burke) Welsh, a host of nieces and nephews; former son-in-law, David L. Brown and life long friend, Marilyn Arnett.
A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at 12:30pm at White House Memorial Gardens, The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 to 12:00pm at Cole and Garrett Funeral Home in White House: Online condolences can be made at www.ColeandGarrett.com
