Charlotte Buchholz Sluder, 87, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on September 15, 2022, at Solace Hospice House, in Asheville.
Charlotte was born in Chattanooga, TN, in 1935. She was preceded in death by her parents, Julius W. Buchholz and Antonie R. Buchholz, who immigrated from Germany. She is preceded in death by her beloved brother, and only sibling, Julian R. Buchholz.
Charlotte is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Robert Sluder, 92; four children; Robin Sluder Barnes (Jay Barnes); of Raleigh, NC, Tony Sluder; (Bonnie Sluder) Louisburg, NC, Michael Sluder of Asheville, and Evan Sluder (Kelly Tweed Sluder), of Asheville. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; Heather Denning (Trevor Denning), of Morehead City, NC; Lindsey Norris (Tevin Norris), of Raleigh; Taylor Sluder, Carson Sluder, Matthew Sluder, Logan Sluder and Sarah Sluder, all of Asheville; and her two great-grandchildren; Treyson and Jaycie Denning.
Charlotte treasured her family and spent her life caring for them. She valued her friends and was known for her kind nature, selflessness and her sense of humor. She also loved to sing and dance when no one was looking. Charlotte found her calling to care for the elderly after caring for her ailing mother, by working as an aid at several assisted living facilities, and retired from Deerfield in the early 90s.
A brief visitation will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, September 23, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 768 Asbury Rd., Candler, NC. Following the visitation, a Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. celebrating Charlotte's life. A private burial for the family will follow.
