Daniel Czarnecki

Daniel Czarnecki, age 83 passed away peacefully, after a short battle with lung cancer on July 21, 2021 at McKay-Dee Hospital. He was surrounded by family at his passing.

Dan was born on April 1, 1938 in Cleveland, Ohio to Benjamin and Josephine Czarnecki. He married Yoshiko Miyabe in Japan on September 25, 1959. They had three children.

He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1956. During his years of service, he worked in communications. He was stationed in various countries, including Japan, Okinawa, Vietnam, Thailand, Guam, Philippines, and Taiwan. In the states, he was also stationed in Michigan, Illinois, California, and Utah. He retired from the service in Utah in 1978. He then worked for the Civil Service as a security police officer, aircraft maintenance, golf course maintenance and technical writer, until his final retirement.

His interests included metal detecting, photography, and ham radio. He spent many hours on the radio. He was a member of the Davis County Amateur Radio Club and his call sign was N7JCO. He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed spending time with his golden doodle, Kieran. Through the years he was an active volunteer. His volunteer work included Meals on Wheels, the HAFB hospital pharmacy, providing ham radio support for parades, Davis County Search and Rescue, and various activities with the American Legion.

Dan is survived by his wife Yoshiko Czarnecki, brother John (Sis) Czarnecki, sister Mary Ellen (Frank) Armenio, daughter Laurie Czarnecki, son Dave Czarnecki, daughter Terri (Dave) Thomas, grandson Braden (Tatiana) Czarnecki, granddaughter Jenna Czarnecki, grandson Derek (Sierra) Thomas and great granddaughter Tymber Czarnecki.

He is preceded in death by his mother Josephine Czarnecki, father Benjamin Czarnecki, stepmother Helen Czarnecki, sister Dianne Hill and brother James Czarnecki.

To honor Dan's wishes, there will not be a viewing or funeral. There will be a private graveside service with military honors for the immediate family at Lindquist Memorial Park in Layton.
