Debra E. North, age 64, of Pocahontas, passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2023, at the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.
Debra Elizabeth Schachtner was born April 15, 1959, in Storm Lake, Iowa. She was the daughter of Leo and Myrt (Torkelson) Schachtner. Deb graduated from Our Lady of Good Counsel High School in Fonda in 1977. On October 18, 1980, Deb was united in marriage to Jack North at Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church in Pocahontas. The couple settled in Pocahontas. She worked in production and inventory for Positech in Laurens, then at the Pocahontas Pharmacy as a Tech for many years. For the last several years, Deb worked in customer service and load-out at Calcium Products in Gilmore City.
Deb was a member of the Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church. She enjoyed shenanigans with her 4 older grandchildren and daughter-in-law, and being outside and spending time with her 3 younger grandkids. She also enjoyed golfing, spending time with family, grilling out and swimming with family.
Survivors include her husband, Jack of Pocahontas; children, Alicia (Gregory) Woods of Livermore, Tim (Allison) North of Rolfe and Melissa (Alex) Miller of Marathon; grandchildren, Haylie, Rachael, Kylie, Lexi, Jackson, Max, Ayva, Drew and Harrison; mother, Myrt Schachtner of Emmetsburg; brothers, Ron (Rita) Schachtner of Belmond, Tom (Diane) Schachtner of Emmetsburg and Denny (Jane) Schachtner of Minneapolis, MN; sisters, Nadine (Mike) Rabe of Paullina, Karen (Val Dean) Auten of Mallard, Lori Lopez of Des Moines, and Amy (Rick) Brody of Palatine, IL, and many nieces and nephews.
Deb was preceded in death by her father, Leo Schachtner; granddaughter, Avyrie Miller; in-laws, Don and Dorothy North; brother-in-law, Don North Jr, and many aunts and uncles.
