October 24, 1955 – October 25, 2023
Denise Phyllis Hogan, 68, of Spanish Fork, Utah, passed away peacefully in her home Wednesday, October 25, 2023 from complications related to a decade-long battle with Parkinson's disease. Despite enduring many years of health setbacks, her desire to be with her husband, kids, grandkids, and great grandkids were her driving force to try any and all procedures and therapies to prolong and increase her quality of life.
Denise had a strong love for learning, which she passed down to all five of her children through years of homeschooling. She loved to read historical writings and study the scriptures. She spent countless hours researching and compiling family history albums. Denise earned her Bachelor's in Art History at the age of 50.
At a young age Denise learned to sew, quilt, and play the piano and flute.
She loved taking walks and traveling with her husband and children. Together, they visited over 20 countries and all 50 states.
Denise most enjoyed family time. She thought it her highest blessing and calling in life to fulfill her roles of wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Denise was born in 1955 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Virgil and Dolores Johnson, the second of three daughters. She graduated from Edison High School and attended the University of Minnesota where she met her sweetheart Michael Hogan. They married in 1975 in the Provo, Utah LDS temple. They lived in Minnesota all but the last 2 years of her life, when they moved to Utah in January 2022 to live close to their two daughters.
She is survived by her loving husband Michael and their children: Melissa (Bob) Brady, Brian (Sarah) Hogan, Jennifer (Landon) Trost, Kevin (Jana) Hogan, and Marla (Robert Hogan) Eckman; sister: Becky (Johnson) Larson; her grandchildren: Natalie (Austin) Harrison, Bobby, Marin, and Sophie Brady; Daniel, Ellie, Charlie, and Mikey Hogan; Britton, Tyler, Camden, Lexi, and Carson Trost; Cullen, Jamie, Claire, and Emmy Hogan; Iris and Zeke Eckman; and her great grandchildren: Charlie and Kennedy Harrison.
Denise is preceded in death by her son Robert, her sister Renee, and her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 3933 MN-25, Buffalo, MN 55313, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at 11:00 AM. Viewing 10:00-10:45 AM. Light lunch following services. Graveside services will be family only.
