Derick Scott

Derick Darnell Scott was born September 26, 1971, in Lafayette, Louisiana to Louise Young Joseph and the late Larry Scott. Born in Lafayette, he was a resident of Lake Charles, Louisiana most of his life. He was a graduate of Washington Marion Magnet High School where he was very active in sports; football, baseball, and basketball. He enjoyed watching the New Orleans Saints and the Oregon Ducks. Mr. Scott departed this life Sunday, September 15, 2024, at 4:41PM at the East Jefferson Hospital in Metairie, Louisiana. He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Aimee Talbert; four daughters, Brooklyn Griffin, Lindsey Scott (Ross), Samira Scott, and Alysa Scott; one son, Derrick (Jessica) Scott; mother, Louise Young Joseph; sister, Cassandra (Desire) Dugas; three brothers, Floyd (Monique) Young, Kelly Stanton, and Silas Sallier; six grandchildren, LaKyn, RaGyn, and Xailon Griffin, Bellamy and Lyla LaPoint, and Lydia Scott; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, LaBradford Griffin; sister, Geraldine Lynette Young; and father, Larry Scott. His visitation will be Monday, September 23, 2024 from 4PM with his funeral following at 6PM, at James Funeral Home located at 1801 Moeling Street in Lake Charles.
