Elaine Kay Brauer, age 82, of Linwood, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at her home. A celebration of her life will be from 6 to 8pm, Monday, Oct. 23rd at the Harrington Family Event Center, with a time for sharing memories at 7pm. Memorial Contributions can be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Elaine was born on October 25, 1940 in Kansas City, Kansas and was one of three children born to Walter C. & Mae Fern (Klamm) Smith. She grew up in Bonner Springs and graduated from Bonner Springs High School in the Class of 1958. Elaine married Richard "Dick" Brauer on the Kansas Centennial, January 29, 1961. This year they celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary, however they have known each other for 78 years, since kindergarten. Elaine was a member of the Rainbow Girls, past member of the Linwood United Methodist Church, Red Hatter's Club, and cooked dinner for the Linwood Lions Club for many years. Over the years, she helped Dick on the Farm and sold produce at their market. Later, she helped Dick with his Real Estate Appraisal Business. Above all, she was a loving wife, mother and grandma.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Dwight K. Smith.
Survivors include her husband Richard "Dick" Brauer of the home, and their three children: Son Richard Brauer, Jr., Daughter Kristi Chavers both of Linwood, KS., Daughter Holly Cooper and her husband Patrick of Leavenworth, KS., Three Grandchildren: Aaron Chavers and wife Mikelle, Ryan Chavers and wife Terrissa, Hannah Biang and husband Robert. Nine Great-Grandchildren: Malachi, Liam, Elias, Aaley, Silas, Matthias, Iyla, Naomi and Tobias. Sister: Nancy Thomas of Silver Lake, KS., as well as several other extended family and friends.
