Mrs. Elizabeth Cobb Gammage – Nina and Betty to family and friends – died peacefully on Monday, July 10, 2023 after a brief illness. She met her Savior, as she desired, with family by her side. Betty is survived by daughter, Hollin; son, Dock (Andra); daughter, Taylor; and grandchildren, Morgan (Michael) Rebula, Dakota (Jake) Holloway, Grayson (Morganne) Gammage, Chase Gammage, and Ty Gammage. Born a twin on October 28, 1947, Betty lost her twin sister at birth and is also preceded in death by her father, Hollis Hubert Cobb; mother, Sally Haynes Cobb; and sister, Jane Roberts Cobb.
Betty leaves a legacy of love and creativity, both personally and professionally. As a grandmother, she loved her grandchildren fiercely and individually, celebrating their uniqueness in her interactions and hand-crafted gifts. A gifted artist in many media – including exquisite beadwork jewelry and painting – she shared that talent in 1995 as a co-founder of the Creative Circus college which offered education in creative advertising, interactive development, design, and photography.
For most of her adult life, Betty/Nina met the world head-on with an infectious enthusiasm for shared fun. From the tennis court to a grandchild's event, Betty exuded energy and joyful appreciation for the opportunity to participate. In her final years, Betty moved to McDonough and began attending Morrow Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed participating in the life of the church by attending regularly either in person or online and helped with crafts in VBS.
Betty was unique, creative, spirited and most of all fun-loving. Her memory will linger, and no better tribute to her would be the question she routinely asked:
"Have I told you I love you today?"
A memorial service will be held at Morrow Presbyterian Church on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at 10:00 am. Betty had requested that in lieu of cards or flowers any donations should go to the Food Pantry at Morrow Presbyterian.

The first week the Circus started, my office became the closet turned office next to Betty. It was intimidating. People would be standing in a long line just to see her. I had no idea why. It wasn't always for business, but sometimes it was. Most of the time it wasn't. I came to understand that she had this amazing way of making you feel like you were the person she most wanted to talk to at that moment and that you were important to her.
She was FEARLESS. She was BOLD. She LOVED DEEPLY, and if you were someone she loved, you KNEW it. She never stepped away from what she believed was right. And the reason there were always so many people in line to see her? Because, as I came to know, there was never enough time to spend with her. EVER. 5 minutes or 5 hours wasn't enough to be in her presence. I LOVED Betty. And I have beautiful symbols of her all around MY studio, which she told me I should have (she was right). She was encouraging, funny, and fierce about what she believed in. (She also listened to great music, which I really appreciated.) Being next door for almost 9 years was a gift that I have thought of thousands of times with a smile. There is a great party going on up in heaven; I have no doubt Betty is in the middle of it dancing.
