Eugene (Gene) Ott, Sr.

Gene passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family on Tuesday, October 14th at the age of 84. He is survived by his devoted wife of over 61 years, Eleanor (Kauterman), his best friend whom he loved dearly.

Gene is also survived by and was proud of his children Gene, Jr. (Kathy), Christopher, and Julianne. He was a caring Pop-Pop to Ryan, Timothy, Tyler, Evan, Colin and Daniel. He will be missed by his brothers Larry (Pat), Charlie (Carol), Tom, and his sister Kathy.

Gene leaves behind numerous friends, relatives, and business associates. He graduated from West Catholic High School, LaSalle University (B.S.), Temple University (M.B.A.), and was a CPA. He spent most of his business career in healthcare financing and operations with Independence Blue Cross, where he served as Chief Operating Officer and Acting Chief Executive Officer. Gene was highly regarded for both his deep knowledge and the respectful, fair way he treated his business associates.

Gene enjoyed playing and watching sports, especially the Phillies, Eagles, and Sixers. He loved his Catholic faith and was dedicated to supporting his local parishes. Gene has donated his body to the Temple School of Medicine for scientific research.

A memorial service and mass will be held at Saint Robert Bellarmine Church in Warrington, PA on Saturday, November 1st at 11 A.M. True to his Kensington roots, in lieu of flowers, donations to St. Francis Inn (2441 Kensington Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19125) would be greatly appreciated.
