Eugenia Agnes Fischer

Eugenia Agnes Fischer, age 75, of Palestine passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2024 in Tyler. She was born September 2, 1948 in Waukegan, Illinois to parents, Alfred May and Verona Diedrich May. Eugenia met the love of her life, Robert Fischer, and married September 5, 1970 where they resided in Wonder Lake, Illinois. In 1980 they moved to Houston as her husband worked in the construction industry. The family then moved to Lovelady where they raised their family and while living in Lovelady, Eugenia was extremely active with her Catholic faith and community. Later in life she moved to Palestine to be a designated caregiver for a family member.
Eugenia spent most of her life as a wife, mother and caregiver for her family and others. She was extremely proud of her only granddaughter, Madison and all of her successes in the agricultural industry. She enjoyed working with those that needed a little extra help as well as attending church regularly. Attending breakfast after mass with fellow church parishioners was the highlight of her day. While residing in Palestine, she was a devoted member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and prior to moving to Palestine, she was a resident of Lovelady, and a member of the Saint Francis of Tejas Catholic Church in Crockett.
Eugenia is survived by son, John Fischer and his wife, Mandy of Hempstead; granddaughter, Madison Fischer of Hempstead; brothers, Albert May and wife, Trudy of Woodstock, Illinois, Kenny May of Lake In The Hills, Illinois, Andy May of Gurnee, Illinois, Glenn May and wife, Patti of Algonquin, Illinois; sisters, Rose Mary Alfredson and husband, Robert of Mundelein, Illinois, Christy Lay of Twin Lake, Wisconsin, Peggy Maxwell of Tonto Basin, Arizona; numerous nieces, and nephews, along with several cousins. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Fischer; son, Jason Fischer; parents, Alfred and Verona May.
Funeral mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 29, 2024 at the St. Francis of the Tejas Catholic Church with Father Selvaraj Sinnappan officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at the Callaway-Allee Funeral Home.
