Hazel Marie Driskill

Hazel Driskill, a 50-year resident of Crockett and Houston County, passed away at her home Saturday evening. She was 102 years of age. Hazel Marie Turney was born on May 22, 1923, in Lamkin, Comanche County, Texas, to Harvey and Vada Turney. She and her sister, Louise, lost their mother in 1932, and Juanita Arnett became their stepmother. Hazel attended and graduated from Lamkin High School in 1941 and moved to Ft. Worth where she worked at Consolidated Aircraft for a time.
Later she moved to Austin, and while volunteering at the San Marcos Army Airfield met, then later married, Will Evans Driskill of Crockett. They traveled to several bases during his training, then she came to Crockett when Will was posted overseas. After retiring from the Air Force in 1959, Hazel and Will with their 3 children came home to Crockett.
Hazel worked at the Houston County Electric Co-op for many years, then retired to the family farm. After Will passed away in 2007, Hazel and daughter Cheryl moved to Clear Lake City and resided there for 10 years. When Cheryl passed away in 2020, Hazel moved to the Aviva Retirement Community in Granbury, where she resided for the past 4 years.
Hazel was previously a member of Calvary Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Crockett and was currently a member of the New Energy Church.
Hazel is survived by her sons, Don (Sharon) of Glen Rose TX, and Ed (Sharon) of Clear Lake City; 8 grandchildren; 7 Great-Grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; brother, Royce Turney; many nieces, nephews, and countless friends. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Will Evans Driskill; daughter, Cheryl Driskill Bass; sister, Louise Liles; parents, Harvey Edward Turney and Vada Geye Turney; and numerous relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Hazel Driskill will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday December 7, 2025 at the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Steve Porter officiating. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial following at New Energy Cemetery.
Special thanks to the staff at the Aviva Retirement Community, and the nurses and aides who were of great comfort to her during her time there. Also, thanks to the staff of Four Pillars Hospice Care of Granbury for their attentive and tender care.
