Obituary published on Legacy.com by Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home and Crematory - Muskogee from Nov. 18 to Nov. 19, 2025.
Samuel Dale Driskill, age 80, of
Muskogee, Oklahoma, passed away at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on March 1, 1945, in Brownwood, Texas, to Samuel T. Driskill and Opal Oleada (Tucker) Driskill. Samuel lived a life marked by devotion to his family, to his country, and to the craft he mastered with exceptional pride.
Samuel grew up with a strong work ethic and a natural inclination toward mechanical skill, traits that served him throughout his long and distinguished career. A Master Welder by trade, he spent over 20 years as a ships welder and super-tanker specialist, known for his precision, professionalism, and deep respect for the dangers and demands of the industry. His work took him across the country, including years in Waco, Austin, San Antonio, Houston, Dallas, Riverside, Anaheim, Colorado, Phoenix, Clarksville, and finally Muskogee, where he made his home. His craftsmanship was widely admired, and he took great pride in training younger welders, passing down the knowledge that had shaped his life.
Samuel was a proud United States Navy Veteran, serving honorably during the Vietnam War. He enlisted on May 7, 1964, in San Bernardino, California, and was discharged on June 22, 1968, with the rank of E-3. His service earned him the Vietnam Service Medal with Star, a testament to his courage and steadfast dedication to his fellow servicemen and his country. Samuel carried the values of the Navy-honor, discipline, and loyalty-throughout every chapter of his life.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Samuel possessed an enduring love for the rodeo, a passion rooted in his Texas upbringing. He enjoyed the grit, the challenge, and the spirit of the arena, especially bronc and bull riding and he followed the sport with lifelong enthusiasm. His interests also included woodcarving, cars, and music; he was known to relax with a guitar or harmonica in hand, sharing his talents freely with family and friends.
Samuel is survived by his loving wife, Susan A. Driskill of
Muskogee, OK; his children, Ryan C. Driskill of
Muskogee, OK, Stephanie L. Crow of North Carolina, Patrick A. Driskill of Phoenix, AZ, and Samuel L.G. Driskill of

He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel T. Driskill; his mother, Opal O. Tucker; his brothers, Jerry W. Driskill, Allen Driskill, and Rodger Driskill; and his grandson, Anthony V. Driskill.
Samuel will be remembered as a hardworking, honest, and resilient man-a patriot, a craftsman, and a cowboy at heart. His legacy endures in the lives he touched, the generations he guided, and the pride he carried in every task and every mile of his journey.
