Private graveside services for Evelyn will be held on Monday, July 31st, 2023 at Floral Hills Memory Gardens with Rev. Mike McCullar officiating.
Evelyn was born June 4, 1924, in Glascock County, GA, to the late Jeptha Isaiah and Willie Bell Huff McNair. Sr.; also preceding Evelyn in death was her beloved husband of 53 years, Edward Eugene Brooks, Sr.
Evelyn was a faithful member at Brookhaven Baptist Church in Brookhaven, Georgia for 45 years. She served in many capacities in the children's department and on the church library staff. When she moved to Suwanee in 2000, she immediately found her new church home at Johns Creek Baptist Church and spent most days enjoying activities at the church including the Progressive Sunday School class and Master Singers.
She is survived by her cherished children, Denise Avon and husband Mike; Nondi Chappell and husband John; Edward E. Brooks Jr., and wife Kimberly; six beloved grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, J.I. and JoAnn McNair; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.

Evelyn was a lovely lady of wisdom that she generously shared in our Tuesday Ladies Bible Study at JCBC. She was always positive, friendly and kind anytime our paths crossed. Our loss but God´s gain in heaven; an angel spreading smiles to all. The family left behind have my heartfelt sympathy and condolences Shirley Work

Evelyn was a most amazing woman of God. She was truly a joy to know and very much loved. She was wise, encouraging and supportive to those around her here at JCBC. She was a part of our Tuesday bible study group for several years and we treasured studying with her and missed her so much when she had to leave. A true beauty inside and out, she will live in our memories forever. I offer my sincerest sympathies to her family (of whom she spoke lovingly on many occasions) and pray for comfort in her loss.
