Lamar Thomas Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Crowell Brothers Funeral Homes & Crematory - Peachtree Corners Chapel on Oct. 21, 2025.
Lamar Eston Thomas was born on November 25, 1936, and on October 19, 2025, he passed away peacefully at the age of 88. He was a loving father, a proud grandfather, and a loving presence in the lives of everyone who knew him.
Lamar grew up in the Baptist Church, and his faith remained a guiding light throughout his life. That quiet strength and unwavering belief in doing right by others shaped the man he became - dependable, kind, and always ready to lend a hand. His faith wasn't loud, but it was deep, and it showed in how he treated people.
He was preceded in death by seven siblings, his parents Allie Mae and James, and his son James, and though the family has felt those losses deeply over the years, they find peace knowing they are now reunited. Lamar's memory lives on through the family he loved so dearly: his son, Mark, and his three granddaughters, Leah, Hanna, and Kara, who brought him endless joy and pride. He often said they were his greatest blessings. He is also survived by his brother, Donald, his brother-in-law, Eutis Morris, and many nieces and nephews who remember "Uncle Lamar" as a calm, loving figure in the family - always kind, always present.
Lamar loved the simple things: visiting with family, hearing his granddaughters laugh, watching old westerns, or just enjoying the quiet peace of a Sunday afternoon. He didn't need much to be happy - just the people he loved close by.
Visitation for Lamar will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm in the Peachtree Corners Chapel of Crowell Brothers Funeral Homes & Crematory. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Salem Baptist Church, Tifton, Georgia, with Rev. Mike Fiddler officiating.
His family and friends will remember him as a man of integrity, devotion, and love. And while he may no longer be with us in body, his spirit - the lessons he taught, the love he gave, the memories he helped create - will live on in all of us.
