Obituary published on Legacy.com by Crowell Brothers Funeral Homes & Crematory - Peachtree Corners Chapel from Oct. 15 to Oct. 21, 2025.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles Miller Culbertson Jr., a beloved husband, father, and friend, who left this world on October 11, 2025, at the age of 82, after a life well-lived. Born on February 7, 1943, in Marietta, Georgia, son of the late Charles M. Culbertson, Sr. and Annis (Randolph) Culbertson, Charles was a man of deep roots, embodying the values of his hometown throughout his life.
Charles, a proud Marietta High School graduate, carried the lessons and memories of his youth at Marietta First United Methodist Church into every facet of his life. He served his country with honor in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves from 1962 to 1968, a testament to his character and commitment to service. On May 6, 1964, he married his beloved wife, Greta Hulsebos, in Columbus, Georgia, a partnership that flourished for over five decades.
Charles' professional journey began at Lockheed Martin Aeronautical Co., before he transitioned to Southern Railway Co. while pursuing his education at the Georgia Institute of Technology. In 1971, he proudly graduated, embarking on a distinguished career as a computer programmer with A.T. & T., where he dedicated many years to the telephone utility industry.
A devoted family man, Charles was known for his protective nature and unwavering love for his daughters, Tina Caldwell and Linda Miller. He took great pride in ensuring their happiness and well-being. His legacy lives on through his cherished grandchildren, Taylor Lefert (Isaiah) and Jacob "Jake" Caldwell, as well as his great-granddaughter, Evangeline Lefert. He is also survived by his brother, Thomas Culbertson, and sons-in-law, Wil Caldwell and Peter Miller.
In retirement, Charles' adventurous spirit led him and Greta to travel extensively with family, creating cherished memories during their journeys across Europe and beyond. An avid chess player and enthusiast of photography, computers, reading, and walking, Charles approached each hobby with the same passion and curiosity he brought to all aspects of his life.
A visitation will be held on October 25, 2025, at Crowell Brothers Peachtree Chapel at 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM. Charles will be interred at a later date at Round Hill Cemetery in Cave Spring, Georgia, a resting place made possible by the generosity and forethought of Charles' family.
As we gather to celebrate the remarkable life of Charles Miller Culbertson Jr., we honor the love, laughter, and wisdom he shared with all who knew him. His warm spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
