Mildred Evelyne (Whited) Ahnen was born June 23, 1925 at Colfax, Iowa to Floyd W. and Mildred L.(Good) Whited. On February 15, 1986, Evelyne married Vern Ahnen at Earlham, Iowa. Vern preceded her in death on June 13, 2010.
Evelyne served two and a half years working in a US Navy department during WWII. She went on to other employments until retiring and moving to Iowa. Evelyne had owned her own home in Excelsior Springs, Missouri.
She enjoyed living on the farm, raising big gardens, and canning and freezing vegetables from her garden. Mildred also loved flowers, and raised many colors of irises. She spent seventeen years volunteering at the Human Services office and she was the cafeteria cashier at the hospital. For several years, she was awarded recognition as Volunteer of the Year, receiving photos with Governor Branstad.
Evelyne's church was a big part of her life. She served in many areas, including being an Elder Emeritus.
Evelyne passed away Thursday, June 13, 2024 at Azria Health, Winterset.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her brother, Clarence Whited, and Clarence's two sons, William and Bradley Whited.
Left to remember her in memories are nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The Funeral Service will be held Monday, June 17, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the Early Chapel Christian Church. Memorials may be made to the Early Chapel Christian Church. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.caldwellparrish.com.
