George Bert Van Horn was born January 9, 1943, in Council Bluffs, Iowa to George Keith and Gladys Gertrude (Chrisinger) Van Horn.
He married Teresa Ann Nagunst on May 20, 1966, in Treynor, Iowa. They were blessed with one daughter, TeAnna who they loved and cared for. George and Teresa shared over fifty-four years of love, and laughter before her passing in 2020.
George worked as a tractor mechanic at Massey Ferguson in Springfield, Missouri, and later worked for Ozark Fisheries near Stoutland, Missouri. As they say, once a mechanic, always a mechanic, and he was for over forty years; even in his spare time, George could be found tinkering with lawn mowers, or just about anything with a motor and could usually be found in his shop.
George had never met a stranger in his life and would strike up a conversation with just about anyone who'd listen. He loved and cared for his cat Blizzard, and his late wife's cat, Stormy just as though they were his children. His beloved furry friends offered George a lot of love, comfort, and companionship over the years.
George passed away after a brief stay in the Richland Care Center on the morning of Monday, February 27, 2023, having attained the age of eighty. He is survived by his daughter, TeAnna Van Horn and her companion, Richard Steward both of Richland, MO; several other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Barbara Boysen, and his beloved wife, Teresa.
Though George will be missed, his memory will remain alive within the hearts of those he loved until we meet again.
No services are planned.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of George Bert Van Horn and may be left at the Memorial Chapel of Richland.
