Guy Dettlo Obituary

Guy worked as a lead driver at Chicago O'Hare International Airport for over 35 years, taking care of snow removal in the winter and lawn maintenance in the summer. He retired to the Northwoods and settled on Sissabagama Lake in Stone Lake. He loved spending time on the lake, especially time fishing. He also took fishing trips with his family and friends to Canada. He was a Harley Davidson enthusiast and enjoyed a good long ride. Guy was also an amazing cook; Italian cuisine was definitely his favorite.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Darcy of Stone Lake, WI; his sons, Joseph (Erin) Dettlo of Palatine, IL and Francis Dettlo of Chicago, IL; his step-children, Nathan Smith of Maple Grove, MN, Dana Smith of Chicago, IL, Shannon Merrigan of Wonder Lake, IL, and Tracy Mason (Bill) of Rockford, IL; his grandchildren, Greyson, Camden, and Brooklyn; his siblings, Mark (Michelle) Dettlo of Huntley, IL and Debbie Schoop of Hoffman Estates, IL; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
In addition to his parents, Guy is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Michael Schoop.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Paradise Waters, Stone Lake WI., on September 3rd, 2023 and in Chicago September 23rd, 2023 at an undetermined location.
