Herman Edward Chandler, known to his family as "Nacky," was born January 16, 1947, in St.
Louis, MO. He was preceded in death by both parents Gilbert Oliver and Theo Inez (Price)
Chandler, sister Brenda Hamilton, brother Theodore Chandler, sister Janice Chandler, and
grandson Chandler Brewer.
Herman was educated in the St Louis Public School System. He attended Clark Elementary
School graduating early at the age of 12. In addition, he attended Soldan High School and
graduated early at the age of 16. He attended two years at Harris Teachers College. Herman
was a lifetime member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated, Alpha Delta Sigma Chapter.

While attending Soldan High School, Herman met the love of his life Ruth Anne (Ledell)
Chandler. They fell in love in college and were married on May 12, 1965. To this union was
born three daughters, Marrissa (Chandler) Lindsey, Colette Chandler, and Aletia Chandler.
They were happily married for 58 beautiful years.
Herman began working at AT&T at the young age of 17, in 1965. He started as a
Communications Technician in TV and radio, working up to sales, and completed his career as
an instructor. He spent 31 years in numerous positions throughout his career and retired early.
He had a quiet demeanor and a loving personality that everyone adored. He enjoyed working
with computers and was an expert at charts, graphics, printing and making designs.
Herman accepted Christ at an early age. He loved his Methodist upbringing.
He departed this life on January 24, 2024, and leaves to cherish his memory: his wife Ruth
Anne Chandler, Kansas City, MO; daughters, Marrissa Lindsey (Terry), Kansas City, MO,
Colette Chandler Shawnee, KS, and Aletia Chandler, Kansas City, MO; siblings Gilbert
Chandler Jr (Linda), Tampa, FL, Patricia Pettus, Cheryl Chandler, and Steven Chandler, all of
St. Louis, MO; 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson, and a host of
aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
