Hansa Barki, age 76, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2025. He was born on February 12, 1949 in Bandung, Indonesia.
He was the most thoughtful and selfless person—always the first to learn someone’s name and their story, no matter who they were. His graciousness, generosity, and genuine kindness touched everyone he met. He lived his life to the fullest until the very end.
In 1969, he emigrated from Indonesia to the United States to attend university and went on to earn his Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1974 where he met the love of his life, May-Li. He spent over 40 years of his career as a pharmacist at Mercy Hospital, where his steady compassion and commitment to others made a lasting impact. For over 30 of those years, he worked alongside May-Li, faithfully bringing her lunch every day—a simple gesture that perfectly reflected his loving nature.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tabor and Gin Sang Kie, as well as his brothers, Harris Barki, Kie Hui Kun, Kie Hui Li, Arthur Barki, Hardy Barki, Hans Barki; and sisters, Kie Chun Xiang, Kie Hui Ying, Kie Hui Qiong, Kie Hui Yu, and Jetty Zigas.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, May-Li Barki; his children, Brian (Jamie) and Jessica King (Aaron); and his six adored grandchildren, Brandon, Maya, Hannah, Harper, Everett, and Anders; his brother Kiki Barki (Nita) and sisters Kie Hoey Kiaw and Kie Yan Yu (Xu Wenyu).
His life was one of quiet generosity, unwavering love, and joyful purpose. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.
Inurnment will be private.
