Our family is saddened to announce the passing of Ingrid Elizabeth Stewart, 75, of Prince George, Virginia.
Born September 17, 1948 in Dachau, Germany, Ingrid Elizabeth (Toenniges) Stewart passed away peacefully on Sunday, February, 11, 2024, at Southside Regional Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Sylvia Toenniges, and her brothers, Ashley Hart, Fred Toenniges, and Glen Toenniges.
Ingrid graduated from Petersburg High School in 1968. She worked as a lab technician and retired from Phillip Morris. Ingrid loved antiques and enjoyed attending auctions and shopping at them every chance she had. Her true passion was animals. In addition to dogs and cats, Ingrid owned and cared for pigs, monkeys, and even kangaroos over the years. She deeply loved her animals, and the feeling was mutual.
She loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed boating, particularly along the James River. Ingrid was a Christian, and loved the Lord! She enjoyed listening to positive and encouraging music on K-love.
Ingrid was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. While she was a bit headstrong, her sense of humor and wit kept everyone laughing and on their toes.
Left to cherish her memory is her beloved and devoted husband of 53 years, Rayford Edwin Stewart; her daughter, Jennifer Lynn Carmichael (Mark); son, Brandon Rayford Stewart; and grandsons, Bryce Greyson Carmichael, and Justin Blake Carmichael.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award me on that day – and not only to me, but also to all who longed for His appearing.”
-2 Timothy 4:7-8
