Mr. Ira Lee (Blood) made his debut into this world in Abbeville, SC, on December 18, 1942, to Richard and Viola Lee, who graciously proceeded him in death. As the Lee families Patriarch, at the age 79 and the final siblings to the Cap Lee's heir of 8 children, he bowed out with peace on September 19, 2022 at 9:50 AM. And we pray that they all are now reunited and at peace on that far and distant shore. Ira attended the Abbeville county school system, he was propelled into workforce at an early age.
This endeavor afforded him the privilege to travel greatly- Ira worked on the 1st phase of the building platform, for Walt Disney World for 3 years, Worked on the Virginia Beach Chesapeake Bay Bridge/ Tunnel. He was employed for the Kings highway (Niagara Falls highway 420) in the engineering and Highway department. He later was employed and retired from The Calhoun Falls Plant.
He married his middle school sweetheart Euphemia Lewis. From this union, they planted 1 son, Ira Dennis. Though this union later dissolved their friendship remained. Lovingly called #1 Son, Ira withheld time and established a meaningful father and son friendship, respectfully. He was an avid Braves enthusiast that could give a complete run down on the team's roster and project correctly, on who's got to go from the team.
Ira knew the Lord. He accepted him fully, even to the degree of taking the gospel on the road. He joined the singing group called the Gospel Aires, a group that his brother (Alvin) was a founding member of. As a first baritone, his favorite song was ''Handwriting on the wall''. The family fondly remembers his personal #1 hit- Doo doo doo- No particular lead, just a warm-up to be ready to sing.
He leaves to cherish his life's story and legacy, with his only son Ira Dennis Lee and his wife, a doting daughter-in-law- Tamara Love Lee, of Atlanta GA. The talks and laughs with Ira, can hold all of us for a lifetime. Also, he leaves to herald his presence, a host and nephew, and all his gracious neighbors and friends that truly blessed his heart. His son attests that his Dad lived his life on his own terms that brought him contentment and peace. His cautions and undisputed slow driving speed will remain as one for the books.
A memorial service for Mr. Lee will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at 12:00 noon at Glover's AME Church, Calhoun Falls, SC.
Mr. Lee's memorial will be streaming live from The Unity Mortuary's Facebook page.
The family will be at 713 Seneca Street, Calhoun Falls, SC 29628.
