Jacqueline Eva "Jackie" Eger Korte, age 89, of Anchorage returned to her Heavenly Father on Sunday, January 19, 2025, with loving family by her side. She was born on October 29, 1935, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the late Howard and Pauline (Kanasz) Young. Jackie was a strong and independent women. She enjoyed golf in her later years, being honored with several awards. She was known as being straight-forward and would "tell it like it is". Her family lovingly describes her as a "clean freak", carrying a wooden spoon to ensure things remained clean. Her true passion, however, was her family and the time spent with them. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Gerald R. Eger and William Korte; son, Stephen Eger and granddaughter, Catherine Nicole Straw.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Gerald E. "Jerry" Eger (Laura), Regis Howard "Rege" Eger (Carol Sue), Deborah Ann "Debbie" Whitehouse (Joe) and Christopher "Chris" Eger (Melinda); 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Paulette Yeschenko; caregivers at Forest Springs, Anita, Marla and Sheronda as well as a host of other family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 1:00 pm at St. Martin of Tours (639 S. Shelby Street, Louisville, Kentucky 40202). Inurnment will be held on Monday, January 27, 2025, at St. Francis of Assisi in Fairfield Glade, Tennessee.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Alzheimer's Association or Dementia Society of America in honor of Jackie are greatly appreciated.
