James N. "Jim" Bomleny, 80, of Cairo, Missouri, passed away, April 26,2023.
Jim was born, January 10,1943, in Sycamore, Illinois, to Paul & Anna Mae (Mount) Bomleny. He moved from Illinois to Cairo Missouri and graduated from Cairo High School. Jim served in the United States Air Force and worked on B52 aircraft during his service while stationed in Colorado and Arkansas. After his service, he moved back to Missouri to start a family and work with his father on their family farms. In addition to farming, Jim's favorite thing to do was tractor pulling with the MSTPA. He became secretary of the organization and went to the Missouri State Fair every year. He also worked for Orscheln Farm & Home warehouse as a truck driver and retired after 20 years of service in 2009.
Jim was a devoted husband to Beverly, his wife of 40 years and a loving father to his two children, Nick and Jill. He was a proud grandfather to his grandchildren and great grandchildren and would spend time with them, sharing his love of animals and the outdoors. He was known for his dedication to his family and was respected in the community. Jim was a kind and generous person who always went out of his way to help those in need. Jim was a good friend to many and had a way of getting people to smile with a joke or funny story. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
His parents, preceded him in death along with his sister Joanna Spartz. He is survived by his wife, Beverly, children Nick Bomleny and his wife Ann, Jill Mallory and her husband Scott, step-son Robert Radina, Grandchildren; Nicholas, Meghan, and Katherine Bomleny, Kyle Bomleny, Courtney Mallory, Kurt, Ryan, and Alex Radina, Shayne Brelje (Laura), Heather Holden (Chad), Austin Dudley, Kaden Holden, Riley Freitag, Kerrie Holmes, Brianna Wilkerson, Kristopher Bussen, brother-in-law, George Spartz, nephews, Chris and Kevin Spartz, other relatives and friends.
In remembrance of Jim Bomleny's life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to Jacksonville Cairo Unity Christian Church. Funeral services honoring Jim's life and military honors, were held at the Cater Funeral Home Chapel. Private committal prayer and burial took place in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery. A visitation where words of support were shared with the family preceded the funeral services.
