James Thomas Ledford (Tom/Papa), 86, passed away on October 9, 2023, at home in Greenwood, Indiana. He was the husband of Mary Rebecca (Becky) Ledford. They shared 64 years of marriage together.
Born in Bartley, West Virginia, he was the son of James and Novella Ledford. Tom left the dusty coal mines of West Virginia that his father retired from and headed north with his beautiful young bride to start a new life. His employment was vast, male modeling, pool room manager, ice cream truck driver and always looking for a second job when the kids were young. To his grandchildren he was Papa the Great and the greatest coin and card disappearing magician, and as far as we know, he was NEVER beaten at arm wrestling. He then landed a great job at International Harvester/Navistar and spent more than 30 years building up to the General Foreman position.
He was a US Marine, and belonged to the Shriners and was a Fellow of Craft at the Free Masons. He will be loved and missed by so many.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Rebecca (Becky) Ledford, son Dave, and wife Angela, with grandchildren, Brandon, Brittany, and Brooke, son Tommy, and wife Cyndie with grandchildren Evan and Michalea, Daughter Kim, and husband Tony with grandchildren Alex, Rachel, Kassie, and Cameron, Daughter Karen, and husband Freeman, with grandchildren Jade, Garrett, Michael, Shelly, and Gina. He also amassed 16 wonderful great grandkids. Tom is also survived by his younger brother Fred.
He is predeceased by his parents James and Novella, sister Marina, and his brothers Leon, Rob, Roger, Dickie and granddaughter, Kayla.
