James William 'Jimmie' Tynes, 80, of Symsonia, passed away peacefully at Baptist Health Paducah, with family by his side.
Jimmie was a member of New Harmony Baptist Church and a member of Laborer Local 1214.
The son of the late James Ralph and Thelma Paris Wood Tynes, he was a pony puller and an avid coon hunter in his earlier years. His love for coon hunting took him on to win one of the top prizes in the coon hunting world. He bred and raised coon dogs that were sold across the country.
Jimmie was also a farmer and loved raising cows and chickens. The cows were so spoiled that they would follow him like pets. Camping and fishing were his favorite pastimes. He also enjoyed spending time in the wood shop and made each child and grandchild a hope chest. These will be cherished forever. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Jimmie was affectionately known as 'Daddy Rabbit" to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jimmie is survived by three daughters; Deana McManus (David), Jonna Newton (Michael), both of Symsonia, and Amy Day (Donnie), of Hickory. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Caleb McManus, Shelby Rudolph, Caitlin Hamilton, Mariah Lynn, Zane Day; five great-grandchildren, Ansley Hamilton, Bryer Rudolph, Holden McManus, Adelaide Lynn, Stella Rudolph; seven brothers, Larry Tynes, Phillip Tynes, Joel Tynes, Mark Tynes, Brooks Tynes, David Tynes, Jeffrey Tynes; one sister, Hope McKinney; and several sisters-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Vanna D. Allen Tynes; his parents, Ralph and Thelma Tynes; and two brothers, Jackie Tynes and Dennis Tynes.
