Dr. James Dwight Wilson, 75, of Ringgold, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 31, 2022. He was born on March 7, 1947 in the country home of his maternal grandparents in Ooltewah, Tennessee.
He served in full time ministry for almost sixty years. The Reverend Doctor Wilson, Ordained Bishop with the Church of God, served for thirty-three years as a senior pastor in Tennessee and North Carolina, and served in any position requested of him by the Church of God on State committees and District leadership. During his pastoral years, he helped establish successful ministries in the Philippines, then retired from pastoring and served as a full-time hospice Chaplain for 15 years through the Church of God Chaplain's Commission, 
Cleveland, TN.
Doctor James Dwight Wilson gained his education in Biblical Studies and Pastoral Ministries through East Coast Bible College in 
Charlotte, NC, Master of Divinity studies in Biblical languages and theology from the Pentecostal Theological Seminary in 
Cleveland, TN and Beacon University in 
Augusta, GA. His Doctor of Theology Degree was completed through Christian Life Theological Seminary in Columbus, GA.
He served his country in the Naval Reserves during the Vietnam Era and enjoyed carpentry and woodworking. During his last fifteen years, his passion was writing about his family and faith. The books that he authored include Reflections of Life in 2013, Derek Press, 
Cleveland, TN and An Intimate Glimpse into the Heart of God, pub. 2022 with Derek Press and Pathway Press in 
Cleveland, TN. Through the years, he has contributed articles published in the Church of God Evangel, along with various newsletters and local bulletins in NC, TN, GA, FL and other southern states.
His strong faith and deep love for family was well known by everyone. He lived his life with integrity, trust in God, and a very fervent love for his family.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Lee Wilson in 1998 and mother Margie E. (Willerson)Wilson in June 2020, both of 
Ringgold, GA.
He is survived by his loving wife of more than 55 years, Jeanette (Chambers) Wilson, 
Ringgold, GA; three sons: Timothy and Brikena Doci Wilson, of 
Rockwall, TX, James and Joi (Armentrout) Wilson of 
Loganville, GA., Jason and Christa (Petty) Wilson, of 
Ringgold, GA. Dwight and his beloved wife have eight grandchildren, Blake Johnson, Christopher Wilson, Kayla McGregor, Rachel Cantaffa, Caleb Wilson, Judah Wilson, Ilir Wilson and Levi Wilson and five great grandchildren, Jameson Johnson, Sawyer Johnson, Aidan Cantaffa, Aubrielle Cantaffa and Bentley Cantaffa.
He is also survived by his three brothers: Harold L. and Betty Ann (Horner) Wilson of 
Chattanooga, TN, Mitchell E. and Janie (McGill) Wilson, of Pikeville, TN, Calvin L. and Marilyn R. (Myers) Wilson of 
Chattanooga, TN, and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 6, 2023 in Wallis-Stewart Chapel with Timothy Wilson, James Wilson and Jason Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4 ~ 8 p.m. on Thursday and prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
