James "Bill" Chambless

James "Bill" Chambless, age 83, of Ringgold, Georgia passed away on Friday, October 10, 2025. A lifelong resident of Ringgold, Bill was a devoted member of Ringgold Gospel Tabernacle. He worked for many years at Crawford Body Shop before retiring, after which he enjoyed restoring classic cars at his home. Bill also loved spending time in his garden, tending to his vegetables each year with great care and pride.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Chambless; mother, Jewel Ward; sons, Jeff Bearden and Timothy Chambless; sister, Melvia Ferris; brothers, Raymond Chambless and Rayburn Chambless; and son-in-law, Greg Gates.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Rebecca Bearden Chambless; daughter, Billie (Mike) Cobbler; brother, Floyd (Marylin R.) Chambless; sisters-in-law, Marylin E. Chambless and Marie Chambless; grandchildren, Amber Michelle, Amber Lynn, Raindy (Austin) Bearden, Rebekah Bearden, Selena (Jake) Walden, Trey Chambless, and Dustin Chambless; many great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 12, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and again on Monday, October 13, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, October 13, 2025, in the Wallis–Stewart Chapel of Wilson Funeral Homes, with Pastor Dean Skipper officiating.
