Our mother went home to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ last evening. She passed away peacefully at home with family members and friends at her side. As a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Matthews, NC and long-time resident of Mint Hill, she had many friendships throughout the community. Her retirement from Celanese and Wellman Corporation allowed her to spend time enjoying her dream home watching the horses and deer who roamed the pasture.
She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Sheilah & William Laffoday Jr. of Weddington, NC and son, Zack Outen (Kelley Melson) of Terrell, NC. She also has two granddaughters, Ashley Laffoday (Eamonn Hayes) of Greensboro, NC and Sarah Laffoday of Raleigh, NC. Her grandson, Austin and his wife, Heather and great grandson, Tyler are all residents of Denver, NC.
We would like to thank caretakers, Louis Garlick and Vera Fuller for a job well done in caring for our mother.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM in the Sanctuary at Providence Baptist Church, 232 Providence Church Road, Pageland, SC 29728.
There will be a Celebration of Life Funeral Service on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 11:30 AM at Providence Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Billy Zack Outen.
Memorials may be made to Providence Baptist Church, C/O Cemetery Fund, 232 Providence Church Road, Pageland, SC 29728.
Arrangements are entrusted to Baumgartner Funeral Home of Pageland, SC.
