Graveside services for John V Gough will be held 10:00 AM June 28, 2023 at Shady Grove Cemetery in Sikes La. with Rev. Lathan Hubbard officiating and interment following under the direction of Riser Funeral Home. John was born in Olla, La on September 19, 1936 to the union of his parents, Edward Gough and Mary "Lil Maw" Edna Mayes Gough and passed from this life June 27, 2023 at Autumn Leaves Nursing Home. John was a good man. He fished, hunted Quail, and was funny, grouchy, down to earth, and meant what he said. John loved spending time in his garden and could grow just about anything. John served as a sharp shooter in the United State Marine Corps from 1956 to 1959. After that he went on to driving a truck cross country. John spent countless hours on the road where he would take his precious wife Nita of sixty-four years along with him. They seen it all. They had two stubborn boys and then came along two precious granddaughters. They had gathering where they all would, cook, cut up and enjoy the guitar playing while Nita sang. Memories were made and he will be forever missed. John was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Darrel Gough; and his siblings: J.E. Gough, Faye Gough, Benton Gough, Lavearol Gough, Arzelia "TeeWee" Gough, and Laverne Adams.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Nita Polk Gough; son, Lloyd Gough; grandchildren, Mandy Gough Williams (Jason) and Nikki Gough Lawson (Scotty); great-grandchildren, Brina, Baylee, Jaylin, Drew, Jay, Braden, Dyllan, Bug, and Riley.
Pallbearers include Craig Jacobs, Jason Williams, Scotty Lawson, Dyllan Lawson, Bug Lawson, Danny Bacon, "Super T", and Chris Thompson. Honorary Pallbearer is Braden Lawson.
