SIMSBURY - John A. Kennedy, 93 passed away peacefully on Monday, April 1, 2024 after a brief illness. He was the loving husband of Ann Marie (Shannon) Kennedy for 53 wonderful years. Born June 23, 1930 in Hartford; the son of the late Alexander and Elizabeth (Hall) Kennedy.
Al proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 - 1953. He graduated from The University of Hartford in 1957. He worked for the State of Connecticut as a Social Worker until retirement.
He was an avid NY Giants and Boston Red Sox fan. Al was a gentle, patriotic, kind, thoughtful, generous gentleman. His faith was very important to him. He is already deeply missed.
In addition to his devoted wife, he leaves sister-in-law, Charlene H. Kennedy; nieces and nephews, William R. Kennedy, Jr., Jennifer Lajoie and husband Jeffrey, Thomas J. Kennedy, Jr., Sandra Kennedy and Loreen Bissell; and extended family.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, William "Bob" Robert Kennedy, Sr., Thomas "Jimmy" James Kennedy, Sr., and a niece, Alaine Kennedy.
Friends may call on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 922 Main Street, Winsted from 6 - 7 PM with a funeral service at 7 PM. Burial will be private at Village Cemetery, New Hartford with Military honors. Visit an online guestbook at montano-shea.com.
