John William Smith, age 77, of Pingree Grove, IL, passed away on July 31, 2023. He was born June 3, 1946 in Kansas City, KS to his loving parents, R.D. and Fern (née Brentlinger) Smith.
John graduated from Kansas University. He then joined the United States Army, and served with Special Forces.
John worked in management at Montgomery Wards and Sport Mart.
John and his wife, Donna, were married for 44 wonderful years.
John was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Floyd; and first wife, Mollye. He is survived by his wife, Donna M. Smith; children, Lori Hintt, Bob (Shelly) Lambert, Brittani (Brett) Barrett, and Courtney (Mark) Stang; grandchildren, Austin (Erin), Anissa (Kevin), Ryan, Brady, Chase, Tighe, Logan, and Bella; and niece, Stacy Smith.
Interment will be private.
Final arrangements entrusted to Symonds-Madison Funeral Home. For more information, call 847-741-1128.
