Larry L. Hardesty, 69, died overnight at his home on Sunday, August 28, 2022.
He was born on October 19, 1952, to James and Anne Katherine Harvey Hardesty in Lincoln, IL. Larry grew up in Mason City with his siblings Janice, Barbara, and James and is a graduate of Southern Illinois University-Carbondale.
Larry is survived by his wife, Stacey Hardesty; Children: Nathan Hardesty, Gabrielle Hardesty, and Chloe Hardesty. He was a well-loved Grandfather and Stampy of 6 grandchildren: Michelangelo (11), Gianluca (8), Giuliana (5), Lilliahna (11), Luciano (5), and Leonardo (5 mos). Above all else in his life, Larry cherished his family and grandchildren. He was the backbone of our family and a dear friend to so many people and will be missed. Larry was preceded in death by his daughter, Molly Hardesty, in 2015 at the age of 32. Two sisters, Janice and Barbara, and one brother James also preceded him in death.
Larry was an insurance broker in the industry for over 40 years, starting Hardesty Insurance with his brother Jim Hardesty in 1976. He was an avid boater, fisherman, music lover, and handyman.
The family extends a special thank you to the wonderful nurses and staff at Illinois Cancer Care for their kind and compassionate care shown to Larry and his family.
Cremation rites have been accorded, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements. To share a memory or send a condolence to his family, visit www.masonfuneralhomes.com.
