Louis J. Reetz III, age 74, passed away at his home in Sand Creek on Monday, August 12, 2024. He was born on March 16, 1950, in Chippewa Falls, to Louis II and Esther (Olson) Reetz. Louis attended Bloomer High School and graduated with the Class of 1968. In 1972, he married a classmate, Pamela Werner. They made their home in Sand Creek, Wisconsin, where they raised two amazing daughters (Tracey and Stephanie). They divorced in 1997.
Louis was the owner/operator of the Sand Creek Home Store from 1973-1995. Later, he worked for Cardinal FG in Menomonie for almost 20 years. If you lived in Sand Creek from 1973-present, you knew Louis as a jokester, a helping hand, a daily attendee for coffee and the shake-of-the-day, and someone that would go the extra mile for you at the drop of a hat. Despite his gruff voice, Louis was a true teddy bear and cared deeply about the residents of Sand Creek, his friends, and most importantly, his family.
Louis was a member of the volunteer fire department and enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards (especially cribbage), dabbling in the Wisconsin Lottery, and all the Sand Creek Community gatherings.
Louis was an avid sports fan and loved cheering on the Packers, Badgers and especially the Brewers. Being a devoted family man, he truly loved following his grandsons in their sporting events, spending many nights in his chair watching the livestream of their games.
He is survived by his daughters: Tracey (Dave) Cowley and Stephanie (Ben) Moerke; sisters: Barbara Reetz and Mary Reetz (Mark Payne); brother: John (Carla) Reetz; grandsons: Trey, Reese and Brooks Cowley and Nathan and Josh Moerke; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In 2001, Louis married Judy Wittig and though they later divorced, she brought in a bonus family: Jennelle (Jeff) Wolf and their children: Addysen, Brayden, and Masyn; Jamie Bowe (Troy Timm); John (Jacquelyn) Welch and their children: Jacob and Audrey and Jake (Casie Synder) Welch.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents: Louis and Esther; sister: Kathleen Reetz; nephew: Michael P. Olson.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM (Noon) on Friday, August 23, 2024, at the White Pine Pavilion in Bloomer with a visitation from 10:00 – 12:00 PM on Friday at the White Pine. Inurnment will be at the North Catholic Cemetery in Bloomer with lunch to follow at the White Pine. The family would like to thank all of Louis’s neighbors and Sand Creek residents for their years of love and support.
