Luevent Virginia Galloway departed this life on June 14, 2024, at Hospice House of the Upstate after a lengthy battle with cancer. Virginia was born on April 5, 1944, to the late Marvin Sr. and Ruth Galloway. She has called Anderson her home all her life. She was known for her beautiful multicolored eyes and warm smile.
Throughout her life, Virginia worked at Westpoint Stevens for over 25 years and later retired at the age of 72 in 2016 from her role as an Environment Service Technician at Anmed Medical Center. Her dedication to her work and her family are just a few examples of her selfless nature.
If you knew Virginia, you knew that the most important people in her life were her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and family. Virginia's love for her family and friends knew no bounds. She was an exemplary mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who put the needs of others before her own. Her kindness, compassion, and generosity left a lasting impact on everyone she touched. Virginia was a devoted Christian who never wavered in her faith. She was known for driving her big van and it would be loaded down with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her sibling Marvin Galloway Jr. and grandson Travis D. Galloway.
Virginia leaves behind her children, Bobby Galloway, Barbara Gantt (Michael), and Bernard Galloway (Lisa), all of Anderson, SC; Denise Cooke (Robert), White Plains, MD; Ann Galloway, Mount Pleasant, SC; and Denita Galloway, Greenville, SC. She is also survived by her godson Earl Thompson, Anderson, SC; Honorary Brother and Sister, Moses and Doris Robertson. She had so much love to give her fifteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2024 in the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home. The interment will follow at Westview Cemetery. Public viewing Friday from 1:00 - 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of her daughter, Barbara Gantt, 507 Ramsey Rd., Anderson, SC 29621.
