Lunar Lorene Maxwell, age 92 of Chatham, was called home on Tuesday, November 6, 2023. She had a great passion for gardening and always enjoyed sharing the harvest with family and friends. She also made sure that her freezer and pantry were always stocked and you never left her home empty handed. Lorene took great pride in a well-manicured lawn and was constantly weeding flower beds to perfection. She logged many hours on her zero turn mower as she tended to her lawn. She loved to cook, bake and share her amazing treats. Lorene made the best tea cakes around. She had a big heart that was consumed with love for her family. Her children, grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren were her world.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, LC Butler, Milton Dale Buell and Denise, Irene Smith, Veronica Creamer, Connie Anderson, Joel Buell and Ester, Hope McColm and Bob, 12 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Edwin Buell; 2nd husband, E.E. Maxwell; children, Loren Buell, Patricia Butler; stepchildren, Mark Buell, Edwin D. Buell, Jr.; parents, James Ira and Lunar (Moffett) Sowers; siblings, George Sowers, Milton Sowers, Loyd Sowers, Cecil Sowers, James Sowers, Carles Sowers, Myrtleine Beach, Mary McFarland, Nellie Wilks.
Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, November 9, 2023 in the chapel of Southern-Edmonds Funeral Home from 10:00AM until time of service. Funeral services are set to begin at 12:00PM with Bro. Bruce Cardin officiating. Burial will follow in Midway Baptist Church under the direction of Southern-Edmonds Funeral Home.
