Mary Arenz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Huber Funeral Homes & Cremation Services: Eden Prairie on Oct. 22, 2024.
Mary Arenz (78) of Minnetonka, MN passed away peacefully at Cottagewood Senior Community in Rochester, MN on October 21 2024, after living with Alzheimer's disease. She is preceded in death by her parents Art and Noranna Dell, brother Terry Dell, and loving high school sweetheart and husband of 54 years, Jerry Arenz. She is survived by her brother, Pete, children Beth Anne (Roger), Susan (Corey), Amy (James), and Steven; grandchildren Joey, Andrew, Thomas, Graceanne, Sarah, Katie, Ben, Natalie and Caroline, and numerous family and friends.
Mary attended Marycrest College in Davenport, IA and Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, studying Business and Marketing. She spent years working in the banking industry, spending most of that time in bookkeeping and accounts payable/receivable. She eventually received training as a tax preparer and worked for H&R block for over a decade. She excelled at tax preparation and managed H&R Block offices in Minnetonka, MN, before retiring.
Mary was a devout Catholic, and was involved in her Catholic church community since childhood. She attended Catholic schools for grade school and college, and she prioritized Catholic education for her children, when possible. Since 1984, Mary was an active parishioner at St. Therese Parish in Deephaven, MN.
Mary supported her children and grandchildren in all kinds of pursuits through the years. She was particularly fond of performing arts, an interest she held since childhood. She would often be found in the audience at one of their plays, shows, concerts, or recitals. Many times, she would attend multiple performances of the same event. She rarely missed a 'gig,' as she called them. No matter where she was, Mary brought with her the promise of a good laugh and a good time. She sought to bring joy and laughter to those around her, and will she always be remembered for that.
Please join us in celebrating her life with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Therese of Deephaven Catholic Church on Tuesday, October 29th at noon. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00AM to noon.
